A Gorgeous Georgian 'Piggin' Style Butter Dish

A fabulous cut glass butter tub from the Georgian Regency period. This gorgeous example is of rounded form, with a single raised handle in the form of a 'Piggin' (cream pail). The body is cut with strawberry diamonds and has a tooth cut rim. The raised handle is shaped and step cut. The base has a large polished pontil mark and notch cutting to the edge. These fine pieces are good collector's items and rather difficult to find. A good example both practical and decorative. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no serious chips and no cracks. There are the expected fleabite nibbles to the notch cut rim, commensurate with age and use.
