A Late Georgian Cut Glass Pineapple/ham Stand

A superb late Georgian cut glass pineapple/ham stand. In Georgian times, pineapple were hugely expensive and and to have one was a conspicuous sign of wealth. Families would sometimes have a pineapple stand in cut glass or ceramic on a side table or as a dining table centerpiece. Upturned they would also double as a ham stand and a large joint, surrounded by fruit and decoration would provide the focal point of a gathering or feast. This superb late Georgian example has notch cut waisted centre, with panels of diamond cutting to the rim and foot. A rare and desirable piece of Georgian table glass. Dimensions below.
