Rare Chapman Patent Locking Decanter

Description

A rare cut glass and solid silver mounted locating decanter, Chapman Patent.

The body has all over thumbnail cutting and a star cut base. The neck has a solid silver collar with a Chapmans patent lock attached, fully hallmarked for London 1906, makers mark H.J. The stopper has original matching silver collar with a bolt which slots into the lock. To unlock, turn the key to lock or unlock the decanter.

Height 24cm. Base 9.5cm square.

In excellent and full working order there is a slither chip to the decanter rim, as illustrated and the stopper is also chipped to the base, fortunately this does not affect its operation or functionality. When stopper in situ, chips not visible.

A great piece, in original condition, with honest wear.
