Description

An excellent mid-19th century DECANTER BOX in lovely original condition.

It is constructed of solid padouk wood (heavy and hard-wearing), edged in coromandel and lined with pale blue velvet with recessed brass handles to both sides. It opens to reveal the fitted interior with its beautiful set of 4 cut-glass oval decanters and stoppers, whilst within the lid is a single glass retained by a gilt brass bracket.

These four decanters are truly very fine; each is engraved with a family crest and all are in lovely condition. A very fine decanter box indeed, probably by Betjemann. 10ins wide.
