Technical Description

A Thomas Webb bronze lion mask glass vase. The cylindrical body features four dimples each of which contains a signature lion head prunt. Webb bronze items are not particularly rare, however, bronze examples with lion head prunts are. The piece is blown from green glass and an iridescent finish, this was produced using an array of metal oxides. A polished pontil completes the piece.

Historical Relevance

Handcrafted around the time the Natural History Museum was opened in London on the 18th of April 1881.
