Technical Description
A ruby cut glass decanter. The neck features two slice cut neck rings above a body decorated with slice and pillar flute cuts. These cuts continue to the base. The original matching stopper remains.
This is a very unusual and rare form.
Either way, we have never come across this exact form before and although we have a number of excellent reference books on decanters, including both of Andy McConnell's, unfortunately, we couldn't find another example as a reference. A rare occurrence today with the sheer volume of information available both on and offline.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Queen Victoria married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
