England, c1790. Period of George III.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 7cm Rim diameter: 7.1cm Foot diameter: 6.6cm

Technical Description

An 18th century glass salt. The cup bowl is decorated with diamond moulding and an applied orange glass rim. This is supported by a stem featuring an annulated knop. A conical foot with a rough pontil completes the piece.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time Robert Burns' song 'Scots Wha Hae' was published in the Morning Chronicle on the 8th of May 1794.
