Liege, Belgium. c1680-1700

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 12.5cm Rim diameter: 7.4cm Foot diameter: 6.2cm.

Technical Description

Four rows of honeycomb moulding above rib moulding on a conical bowl. Sits on a hollow inverted baluster knop above a conical foot.

For those that are lucky enough to have a copy of Barrington Haynes you can see an example of an almost identical glass described as being found in England in soda metal dating to the third quarter of the 17th century. Haynes also describes Tazza's found with the same design in two different sizes. We included the pictures from Barrington Haynes below. A magnificent glass over 300 years old.

Historical Relevance

Manufactured around the time of the 'Glorious Revolution' in 1688 with the overthrow of James II by a union of English politicians with the Dutch stadtholder William III, Prince of Orange, who was James's nephew and son-in-law.
