Holland, c1935. Period of Wilhelmina.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. The gilding has been rubbed from use.

Technical Description

20th century renaissance revival gilt Dutch jug. The neck features an applied rigaree collar and two applied handles. The body has further applied pinched rigaree over wrythen ribbed bands with wonderful gilding between.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time the physicist Erwin Schrödinger published his famous thought experiment 'Schrödinger's cat', a paradox that illustrates the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics.
