Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver candlesticks from the mid-18th century feature cast construction, baluster-shaped stems, and rococo-influenced motifs such as scalloped edges and shell mouldings on the bases and nozzles.

Cast silver candlesticks were made by pouring molten sterling silver into multi-piece sand moulds. The individual sections, including the base, stem, and nozzle, were then hand-chased and soldered together before polishing.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarks stamped on the base rim or nozzle socket, including the makers mark, lion passant (sterling quality), town mark, and date letter. They are also significantly heavier than later sheet silver or electroplated alternatives.

Antique silver candlesticks can be arranged in symmetrical groupings on a sideboard, styled along the centre of a dining table, or paired with contemporary ceramics on a mantelpiece to create visual contrast.

Clean sterling silver using a specialized, non-abrasive silver polish applied with a soft microfibre cloth, washing away residual polish with warm water and mild soap. Avoid silver dip solutions, which remove natural tarnish from decorative recesses.
