Late 19th Century Arts and Crafts Claret Jug

Description

An elegant late 19th century crystal and gilt metal mounted Arts and Crafts claret jug of circular baluster form, the spreading foot cased in a beaded and dentilled gilt metal mount, the body decorated with cut and etched zigzagging, lozenges and ovals with lines to each, with a broad etched band to the neck, and a gilt metal mount with a hinged lid with an acorn terminal and pouring spout, all with similar decoration to the glass, and a stylised looped handle. Capacity one bottle of wine. English circa 1885.
