Description

A rare Victorian cut glass rinser. Rinsers or coolers were used for chilling or rinsing wine glasses at the table, between courses. One per person would be placed on the table, facilitating the repeated use of the same glass for different wines.

Later it became more common to have a different glass for each wine. Although it's original use is no longer relevant, the rinser can be a lovely collector's item and has a practical use as a bowl. This beautiful example has slice cutting to the sides and a star cut base. Single lipped versions such as this are very unusual and in the Irish taste. Dimensions below.
