Opulent Large Crystal Inkwell - Tortoise Shell / Sterling Silver Top

Description

An impressive and important inkwell with a base diameter measuring 3 1/4" square.

Of course what makes this a special piece is the English solid or sterling silver hinged lid and of course the glossy piece of tortoiseshell set into the top. The shell is decorated with an intricate silver pique inlay. The silver is hallmarked on the side of the collar for London 1904.

The shoulders of the inkwell have an attractive curved edging and the underside deeply cut in the ever-popular hobnail design.

A superb desk-top gem standing 4 1/4" tall and in excellent condition.
