Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century table lamp is a Chinoiserie piece formed from a Chinese blue and white porcelain vase fitted with French scrolling foliate ormolu mounts, handles and a footed base. The porcelain body exhibits a rich cobalt blue glaze overlaid with white prunus blossom branches and birds, supporting an upright cylindrical lamp fitting at the top. Gilt bronze hardware includes ornate scrolling acanthus handles that sweep upward from the shoulders of the vase, alongside decorative moulded details around the collar and a Rococo-style footed base. The piece measures 55 cm high, 28 cm wide and 26 cm deep. Items of this type suit placement on a sideboard top or side table within a formal living room, hallway or study setting, providing both ambient lighting and a decorative accent in a traditional interior.

FAQs

An ormolu mounted porcelain vase lamp consists of an East Asian ceramic vessel fitted with European gilt-bronze (ormolu) handles, rim collars, and bases, adapted for use as decorative lighting.

These pieces typically combine high-fired glazed porcelain featuring cobalt or enamel decoration with cast, chased, and gilded bronze or brass mounts.

Authentic pieces display detailed hand-chasing on the metalwork, uneven wear to the gilding, hand-painted porcelain motifs, and historic adaptations for wiring or candle fixtures.

Position the lamp on a sideboard, console table, or writing desk to introduce visual contrast, rich colour, and metallic texture alongside contemporary furnishings.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid water or chemical polish on gilt surfaces to protect the original patination and gilded finish.
