ANTIQUE #SA510967

Antique Victorian Solid Silver Lidded Claret Jug

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

A good example of a Victorian claret jug.

Hallmarked on the side for London 1900, with the maker''s mark of John Grinsell & Sons. The solid sterling silver top is plain in design, with a sharply angled handle. The hinge of the lid is slightly loose allowing sideways movement, but this neither harms the usefulness or appearance of the item. The glass is in good condition - a bulbous body with linear grooves which emphasise the flowing lines of the jug.
