FAQs

Persian carpets are hand-woven textiles originating from Iran, renowned for intricate geometric or floral designs, palmettes, and arabesque vine scrolls. Historically produced in specific weaving centres such as Kashan, Tabriz, and Sultanabad, these carpets reflect centuries of regional design traditions and craftsmanship.

Authentic Persian carpets are hand-knotted using wool or silk pile spun onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. The yarn is traditionally coloured using natural dyes derived from plants, insects, and minerals, yielding subtle colour variations throughout the pile.

Authentic hand-knotted pieces exhibit slight irregularities in pattern and knot density, which are visible on the reverse side. Unlike machine-made alternatives, the fringe forms part of the structural warp threads rather than being stitched onto the ends post-production.

A large Persian carpet serves as a foundational anchor in living rooms, dining spaces, or bedrooms. The complex colour palette complements both dark antique timbers and modern minimalist furniture, providing contrast and acoustic dampening.

Vacuum the carpet regularly using a suction-only setting to avoid damaging the fibres with a rotating beater bar. Promptly blot liquid spills with an absorbent cloth without rubbing, and rotate the carpet periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure.
