An Extremely Rare Regency Cut Glass Decanter Coaster.

An extremely rare example of Regency period cut glass. this is a wine coaster for a decanter. Often mistaken for the similar shaped bases for a butter dish, this is a scarce and desirable item with a practical use. It is of circular firm with a drop centre to hold a deccanter. The wide lip has petal edging and hobnail cut design. To the centre the base has deep fan cutting. A wonderful example of Georgian social glass.

Condition :- Very good. The petals on the edging have some losses and the hobnail cutting has some loss to a couple of the points, all commensurate with age and use.
