Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The beautifully figured box is lined with its original navy blue leather and royal blue velvet to the lid, whilst the original Bramah lock (and key) is engraved: "Wedgwood & Sons, Cornhill, London" ~ presumably the retailers.
