Late 18th Century Lovely Pair of Blown Glass Engraved Gilt Embellished Decanters.

19th century
Description

Circa 1800 pair of hand blown and engraved rectangular spirit decanters with gilt embellishments and the original stoppers.

With curved thumb cut engraved bordered shoulders, these decanters have bunches of grapes engraved on the wide sides, and star cuts on the short sides. The shoulders are embellished with a gilt painted foliate design. The stopper is also gilt embellished and has beautiful facet cut edges.

There is a rough pontil to the underside of each base.

Size-approximately 9 3/16 inches tall by 3 3/16 inches side by 2 3/8 inches deep.

Weight-885 grams total the pair.

These decanters may have originally been fitted into a decanter box, and would be very suitable to use as antique replacements for lost ones.

In addition, they are lovely on their own to use for spirits, or as containers for oils and potions in a bathroom.

They also make beautiful decorative pieces.

Four matching decanters are being sold in two pairs (see last photo). One pair is fractionally taller than the other. This listing is for one pair.

Each interior stopper bottom has a large chip that has been smoothed at some point.

This pair is in very good condition overall, and have great age.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
