Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Victorian mustard pots dates from 1874 and originates in London. Formed in sterling silver with a reflective silver finish, the cylindrical vessels stand upon beaded borders and incorporate scroll handles with shell thumbpieces alongside hinged lids featuring spoon cutouts. Engraved floral swags wrap the bodies, complemented by stars and repeating motifs, while the lids bear initials and central engraving. Each pot measures 7 cm high, 6.5 cm wide, and 10 cm deep. Suitable for use on a sideboard top, these items serve as functional tableware elements within an English Country House interior. The matching design offers a coordinated display for dining services, bringing period metalwork into contemporary domestic settings.

FAQs

Victorian silver mustard pots frequently feature cylindrical drum shapes, hinged lids with spoon apertures, and elaborate surface decoration such as bright-cut engraving, beaded rims, and scroll handles.

These condiments were crafted from sterling silver, often fitted with glass liners to protect the metal from acidic mustard paste, and finished with cast handles and hand-engraved detailing.

Authentic British pieces bear a complete hallmark series, including the makers mark, lion passant for sterling purity, town mark such as Londons leopard head, date letter, and monarch duty mark.

Place them on a formal dining table or sideboard top to add historic metalwork texture, or utilise them as decorative accents within a curated silverware collection.

Clean silver gently using a soft, lint-free cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding abrasive pads or dishwashers, and ensure interior glass liners are thoroughly dried after use.
