Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

This Victorian sterling silver oval locket pendant features a shimmering silver colour with a polished metallic finish and an integrated bail loop at the top. The piece displays an intricate floral hand engraving on the central oval panel, surrounded by a notched ribbed outer border that catches the light against the green fabric background. The hinged hardware allows the locket to open and snap shut securely, preserving the traditional functionality of the period design. Ideal for everyday wear suspended from a chain around the neck or as a decorative addition to a historic jewellery collection, the pendant brings authentic Victorian styling to a modern wardrobe. The compact proportions fit comfortably within the palm of the hand for secure handling when inserting miniature photographs or keepsakes.

FAQs

Victorian lockets were widely worn as sentimental keepsakes to hold miniature portraits, hair tokens, or photographs, reflecting the eras focus on personal sentiment and mourning customs.

Victorian lockets were commonly crafted from sterling silver, gold, or pinchbeck, often featuring hand-engraved scrollwork, engine-turned patterns, and internal frames with glass or mica inserts.

Authentic Victorian silver lockets typically exhibit British silver hallmarks or makers marks, precise hand-engraving, and characteristic period hinge mechanisms and bail attachments.

An antique silver locket can be layered with contemporary silver chains of varying lengths or worn as an individual focal piece over simple knitwear and shirts.

The exterior should be wiped gently with a soft silver polishing cloth while keeping liquid polish away from interior photo compartments to prevent tarnishing and damage.
