Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A matched pair of nineteenth-century Victorian table lamps in the neoclassical manner, styled from converted candlesticks with a warm gold brass finish. Each lamp stands upon a triangular tricorn base supported by three cast paw feet, rising to a slender fluted shaft with fine chasing and neoclassical mouldings. The fixtures carry pleated ikat fabric shades featuring vertical stripes of red, blue, green, and cream beneath a patterned trim. Standing 26 cm high, these lamps bring traditional English country house character to domestic interiors. Position these versatile lights atop a living room sideboard, a hallway console table, or a study bureau to introduce soft, ambient illumination and classic antique warmth to a surface. The wired construction allows for straightforward placement within a modern home setting, adding period detail and historical interest to everyday living spaces.

FAQs

Lamps from this era often incorporate classical architectural details, including fluted columns, urn motifs, and cast claw or paw feet bases inspired by Neoclassical and Victorian design.

These lamps were primarily crafted from solid cast brass, bronze, or brass-plated metals, frequently paired with weighted bases and fabric or glass diffusers.

Authentic pieces generally show heavy cast construction, subtle surface irregularities, age-appropriate oxidisation or patina, and evidence of historical rewiring from oil or candle origins.

Placing a pair of brass lamps on a contemporary console table or sideboard creates symmetry and introduces warm metallic tones alongside patterned fabric shades.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft lint-free cloth and avoid abrasive chemicals or aggressive metal polishes that can remove the historical patina.
