Description

An Edwardian solid sterling silver novelty pin cushion, this one fashioned as the Cheshire Cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

He is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1909 with the maker's mark of Gourdel Vales & Co. The circular cushion is original, and is a little worn and stained. The cat statuette is simply stuck in and is unmarked. The base is leather-covered, always a sign of quality, and is slightly overfilled so the cushion wobbles.

Diameter of base: 5cm
