This George V sterling silver cheroot case from 1910 functions as a gentlemen's library accessory and is placed on an office desk today. The square metallic silver pocket case presents a slightly curved form with rounded edges and corners. Both sides display detailed chased foliate scrollwork and a blank central shield cartouche, complemented by a hinged cover with a push-button catch. The visual evidence reveals a polished silver surface reflecting light, a small protruding metal clasp at the front lower edge, and a subtle shadow cast on the grey textured background. The item measures 8.5 cm high, 7.5 cm wide, and 1.5 cm deep. Solid silver construction gives the piece its structural integrity and silver colour. The exterior finish exhibits fine quality deep-cut chased scroll design decoration, while the interior features a clean gilt lining. Hallmarks for Birmingham 1919 and the maker's mark for Henry Williamson Ltd appear across the sections. The piece is suited for display on a desk or table top in a study or office environment, serving as a decorative container or a small storage box for everyday items.

A cheroot case is a small, portable container designed in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to protect cheroots or small cigars while being carried in a pocket.

These cases were typically crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, often featuring hand-chased, engraved, or repousse scrollwork designs and fitted with internal retainers or elastic straps.

Authentic silver cases generally feature official assay office hallmarks indicating silver purity, maker marks, and date letters stamped inside the rim or on the outer rim.

Small decorative silver items can be displayed open on a tray atop a coffee table, integrated into a gentlemans library shelf display, or styled inside a curated glass shadow box.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and use a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish sparingly to prevent tarnish build-up without eroding fine chasing details.
