This Edwardian set comprises six sterling silver napkin rings presented in a black leatherette case with a bright blue silk lining. Each circular band displays intricate foliate engraving and scrollwork across the silver surface. Five rings share matching Chester hallmarks for 1912 alongside one Chester hallmark for 1908, with the maker's mark belonging to E. J. Trevitt & Sons. The set includes the original fitted presentation box equipped with a small metal clasp on the lid. Individual rings measure 4 cm across the hole by 3 cm high, with a combined weight of 104.7 grams. Display this collection on a sideboard top in a dining room during formal dinner parties or family gatherings.

Napkin rings were introduced in bourgeois European households during the early 19th century to identify personal cloth napkins between washings. By the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, sets crafted from sterling silver became standard items for formal dining and wedding gifts.

Edwardian napkin rings were predominantly crafted from sterling silver (925 purity) and decorated using techniques such as hand-engraving, bright-cutting, and chasing. They were frequently presented in custom velvet and silk-lined leatherette presentation boxes.

Authentic British sterling silver items feature a full set of official hallmarks stamped into the metal. These include the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office symbol, and a specific date letter denoting the year of manufacture.

Silver napkin rings can be styled on formal dining tables alongside crisp linen napkins, classic crystal, and polished cutlery. When not in use, cased sets can be displayed open on a sideboard or within a glass cabinet as part of a silver collection.

Clean silver using a soft microfibre cloth and a non-abrasive silver polish to remove tarnish without wearing down delicate hand-engraving. Store pieces in anti-tarnish cloth bags or within their original silk-lined boxes away from moisture and direct sunlight.
