This Edwardian decanter originates from the elegant Edwardian era and is made of clear glass with a hallmarked sterling silver collar mount. The rounded, bulbous body has three applied loop handles and draped optic ribbing, complemented by a flared pouring rim and a ground glass stopper that is extensively cut with matching optic ribbing. The base is finished with a polished pontil mark, and the clear and readable hallmarks include some loss to the maker's mark. Measuring 23.5 cm high by 14 cm wide and 14 cm deep, it is a practical and usable piece of antique glassware. In a modern home, this piece fits well on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library or a formal dining room. It serves as a striking decorative object or a functional vessel for serving spirits during gatherings. The combination of clear glass and polished silver brings a refined traditional aesthetic to domestic spaces, functioning both as a standalone collectible and as part of an active barware collection.

An Edwardian silver mounted decanter is a glass vessel produced between 1901 and 1910, characterised by a hallmarked sterling silver collar fitted around the neck or spout.

These decanters feature hand-blown lead glass bodies joined to a fitted sterling silver mount, often secured with resin or cement, and topped with a ground glass stopper.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarks stamped on the silver collar, including a town mark, makers mark, date letter, and the lion passant for sterling silver.

Position the decanter on a dark wood sideboard, marble tray, or console table alongside period glassware to add reflective structure to a contemporary dining space.

Wash the glass interior with warm water, avoiding full immersion of the silver collar, which should be polished separately with a soft cloth and specialist silver polish.
