Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This tall stool belongs to the rustic country style from the 1910 period. It is made entirely from solid ash timber finished in a dark brown tone. The piece consists of a plain circular solid wood seat positioned above four turned legs that connect via spindle stretchers in a multi-tier arrangement. The wood displays a rich natural grain pattern on the top surface, along with ring turnings on the vertical supports and rounded spacer rungs towards the base. The stool stands at 69 cm high. In a modern home interior, this item suits placement by a kitchen island or breakfast bar for casual seating. It also works as a compact standalone seat in a hallway, pantry, or utility room where space is limited. The sturdy ash construction provides practical daily function while adding traditional farmhouse character to interior schemes.

FAQs

Ash has historically been favoured by country woodworkers due to its straight grain, exceptional strength, and flexibility, making it ideal for turned legs and high-use seating furniture.

These stools are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as ash, elm, or oak, utilising mortise and tenon joinery with turned legs and cross stretchers for structural stability.

Authentic pieces display signs of genuine wear along the footrests, subtle variations in wood grain, hand-turned spindle details, and natural patination on surfaces where hands and feet make contact.

A tall stool can be placed alongside a modern kitchen island to introduce warm natural wood grain, or used as an elevated display stand for potted plants in living spaces.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth and applying clear beeswax polish periodically to protect the finish and retain natural wood moisture.
