This Heals of London antique mahogany bookcase display dates from the 1920s Art Deco period and is finished in a rich dark brown colour. The cabinet stands on ebonised turned ball feet and features two glazed doors fitted with multi-pane clear glass panels, geometric glazing bars with ebonised moulded edges, and a keyhole escutcheon. Inside the solid wood panelled back sits three fixed shelves. Measuring Height: 104 cm, Width: 76 cm, and Depth: 26 cm, this compact display piece is well suited for a gentleman's library, home study, or living room to house books and display collections. Its slim profile allows it to fit comfortably into both traditional and contemporary interiors while maintaining authentic period character.

Furniture from this era, produced by makers such as Heal & Son, combined traditional timber craft with simplified geometric silhouettes, moving away from heavy Victorian ornamentation toward cleaner Interwar lines.

Solid mahogany and mahogany veneers were widely utilized alongside clear float glass panes, brass hardware, and ebonised timber accents for feet and mouldings.

Authentic pieces often feature an inlaid ivorine makers button or paper label, precise cabinetwork, high-grade mahogany, and signature design elements like low bun feet and minimal glazing bars.

Position the piece against neutral plaster or soft grey walls to balance the visual weight of dark mahogany, using the shelves to display ceramics, art books, and framed prints.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, clean the glass with a lint-free cloth, and position the cabinet away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
