We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

This Victorian gentleman's pocket watch albert chain comprises sterling silver curb links, a T-bar anchor, a swivel clasp, and a crowned shield fob medallion with a central gold-coloured shield. The piece displays hallmarks including a Birmingham silversmith's mark for Henry Pope, a date letter for 1896 on the T-bar, an illegible date letter on the clasp, silver lion marks on the links, and a later 1909 hallmarked fob inscribed with the name W Brinn and an attendance award text. The total weight is 50.7g and the complete item measures 31 cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Items of this nature suit display within a gentleman's library, study or cabinet of curiosities, either resting inside a collector's case or presented upon a desk top. Collectors of antique silver and period horological accessories utilize such pieces for display or paired with a pocket watch.

Named after Prince Albert, an Albert chain is a specialised watch chain designed to secure a pocket watch to a waistcoat pocket, featuring a central T-bar anchor and a swivel clasp.

Victorian Albert chains were traditionally made from sterling silver, solid gold, or gold plate, assembled using soldered curb links, double links, or rope chains alongside cast metal fittings.

Authentic British silver Albert chains feature hallmark stamps on individual chain links, the T-bar, and the swivel clasp, displaying a lion passant mark alongside date letters and maker marks.

Modern wearers frequently repurpose antique Albert chains as contemporary statement necklaces or wrap-around bracelets, keeping the original T-bar and fob medallion as central focal points.

Clean antique silver chains using a dry microfibre polishing cloth or mild soapy water, avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip natural historic oxidisation from recessed link areas.
