This nineteenth-century French Rococo Revival wall candelabra combines porcelain, ormolu, bronze and enamel in a design scheme of bleu celeste, gold and multi-coloured hand-painted enamel details. A sky-blue porcelain plate forms the central body, decorated with a hand-painted central panel of a couple in a garden, alongside four floral cartouche panels on the border. The piece mounts within gilt ormolu hardware featuring a top ribbon bow cresting, acanthus scroll arms holding two candle sconces, and a lower mascaron mask. The green date mark for 1868 and blue Sevres mark appear alongside a scratch mark through the green lozenge mark indicating factory second status. The item measures 35.5 cm high, 25 cm wide and 15 cm deep. Placed on narrow wall spaces in a living room, hallway or dining room, it provides ambient wall lighting while serving as a decorative wall fixture.

A Sevres porcelain ormolu wall candelabra is a 19th-century decorative wall light featuring a hand-painted porcelain plaque, often produced by or in the style of the Manufacture nationale de Sevres, set within a gilt-bronze (ormolu) frame with candle branches.

These pieces combine soft-paste or hard-paste porcelain with cast bronze that has been mercury-gilded to create a gold finish, alongside hand-applied enamel decoration and gilding.

Authentic pieces feature detailed hand-painted scenes, period maker marks such as interlaced Ls under the glaze, heavy cast bronze mounts with hand-chased details, and historical wear on the mounting assembly.

Position the candelabra on a narrow wall space or flank a central mirror or painting to introduce classical French decoration, contrasting the detailed metalwork against modern wall colours.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or feather duster, avoiding chemical solvents, abrasive polishes, or water on the gilded bronze and painted porcelain surfaces.
