Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This table lamp dates from the 1950 period in a mid-century modern style. The piece comprises a clear crystal glass base with twisted ribbing, a flared organic form, and a brass light fitting attached to the top. The electric cord is white twisted fabric, and the metal hardware shows a warm metallic finish. Measuring 35 cm high, 22 cm wide, and 11 cm deep, the lamp sits neatly upon a sideboard top in a living room, hallway, or bedroom interior. The design incorporates a swirling glass body that catches ambient light, offering a functional and decorative accent for contemporary living spaces.

FAQs

Mid-century glass lighting from the 1950s often features organic, fluid forms, sculptural silhouettes, and dynamic surface textures such as twisted fluting or spiral ribs, moving away from rigid classical cuts.

These lamps are predominantly crafted from heavy lead crystal or thick moulded glass, paired with metal brass fitments, bayonet bulb holders, and braided fabric flexes for electrical wiring.

Authentic pieces exhibit considerable weight due to the high lead content or glass density, seamless integration of vintage brass hardware, and hand-finished pontil or base ground edges.

Position the lamp on a wooden sideboard or side table paired with a simple linen or silk lampshade, allowing the clear glass to refract ambient light without visual clutter.

Wipe the glass surface gently with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap solution, avoiding harsh chemical sprays, and ensure electrical wiring is inspected or updated by a qualified electrician.
