Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Grand Regency cylinder bureau is constructed from satinwood with marquetry inlay and brass elements, presenting a warm golden brown finish. The upper section comprises a curved roll top adorned with delicate floral marquetry decoration, concealing an interior work surface. Below the writing area, a single frieze drawer is fitted with a small central metal pull handle and sits above four slender tapered square legs. A shaped lower undertier shelf connects the legs, offering additional display space near the floor. The timber displays gentle fading and natural grain patterning across every surface. Measuring 90 cm high, 71 cm wide, and 44 cm deep, this compact writing desk suits placement in a drawing room, home study, or bedroom. The narrow footprint and open shelf construction allow the piece to function as an elegant writing station or display surface while maintaining an airy profile within interior spaces.

A cylinder bureau is a writing desk featuring a fixed curved wooden section that rotates smoothly back into the cabinet casing, revealing an internal writing surface and miniature drawers.

Nineteenth-century cylinder bureaux were primarily constructed using fine cabinet woods such as satinwood, mahogany, or rosewood, frequently embellished with floral marquetry, tulipwood crossbanding, and cast brass fitments.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass locks or key escutcheons, natural timber shrinkage along the grain, and smooth running tracks on the internal rolling mechanism.

A satinwood cylinder bureau can be positioned in a hallway, bedroom, or living room alcove as a functional compact workstation, balanced by modern neutral walls and contemporary lighting.

Satinwood furniture should be kept away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or timber cracking, and dressed occasionally with a high-quality natural beeswax polish.
