This Art Deco magnifying glass is a desk accessory dating from 1930. The piece incorporates a circular glass lens held within a wire-work silver frame, attached to an elongated handle with a solid core and a mint green vitreous enamel finish. The handle displays an engine-turned guilloche pattern with subtle wave motifs across the surface, paired with a small rounded metal bolster connecting the handle to the frame. The silver mount shows clear hallmarks with no dents, splits, or losses, and the pale green enamel surface remains completely undamaged. Measuring 10.7 cm high by 4 cm wide and 0.8 cm deep, this small desk object sits comfortably on an office desk or library table. It functions as both a decorative collector's piece and a practical tool for everyday reading or close-up examination of documents and stamps.

Art Deco enamelware from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by geometric precision, vibrant translucent glazes, and sleek forms, combining functional utility with decorative metalwork techniques.

These objects are typically constructed from a sterling silver or silver-gilt base with intricate engine-turned engraving, topped with fused translucent vitreous enamel and an optical glass lens.

Authentic period items feature official hallmarks denoting the silver purity and maker, along with precise mechanical lathe-turned engraving underneath uniform vitreous enamel.

Place the magnifying glass flat on a stacked set of art books, positioned alongside a desk lamp on an office desk, or displayed on a decorative tray within a library space.

Wipe the glass lens with a dry microfibre cloth, polish exposed silver sections using a soft cloth without touching the enamel, and store the object flat to prevent accidental impact damage.
