ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

This Edwardian gentleman's library accessory comprises an antique sterling silver double Albert watch chain complete with curb links, a T-bar clasp, an engraved silver vesta case, and an enamel Lincoln Football League fob medallion. The metal components display a polished silver finish, complemented by blue and red enamel on the central shield motif of the medallion and intricate engraved scrollwork across the surface of the rectangular vesta case. Hallmarks are visible on the T-bar, clasp, and links, while the front cartouche of the vesta case bears engraved initials. Each chain measures 21 cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Such historic pocket watch chains and accessories suit display within a study, office, or library setting today, resting inside a display cabinet, atop a desk, or mounted within a collector's frame. Collectors and enthusiasts of antique silverware acquire these pieces to preserve traditional gentleman's accessories from the early twentieth century. The item functions purely as a decorative display object or collector's piece within modern interior spaces, reflecting period craftsmanship without any requirement for active daily wear or utility.

A double Albert watch chain is a functional piece of traditional jewellery consisting of two separate lengths of chain connected by a central T-bar, which secures into a waistcoat buttonhole. One side typically holds a pocket watch, while the opposing side holds an accessory such as a vesta case, key, or decorative fob.

Antique Albert chains and vesta cases were most commonly constructed from sterling silver, hallmarked gold, silver-gilt, or pinchbeck. Accompanying decorative fobs often incorporated vitreous enamel work, carved gemstones, or engraved silver medals.

Authentic British silver items feature official hallmarks on individual chain links, the T-bar, swivel clasps, and the vesta case. These marks include a purity mark such as the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers stamp.

In contemporary fashion, an antique double Albert chain can be worn across a tailored waistcoat, styled as a layered necklace, or secured to a jacket lapel. Vesta cases and fobs can also be reconfigured as pendants or charm attachments.

Silver components should be cleaned gently using a soft, lint-free silver polishing cloth to avoid removing delicate surface details or chasing. Enamel sections must be kept away from harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners to prevent cracking or discoloration.
