This circular sterling silver and clear glass teapot stand or coaster dates from the Art Nouveau period around 1910. The design incorporates intricate openwork silver detailing with pierced foliage, sinuous leaves, engraved vine leaves and tendrils, and characteristic whiplash curves, accompanied by a return lip to the silver on the underside. The silver surface presents a reflective metallic finish, contrasting with the transparent glass centre. Measuring 0.6 cm in height, 14.5 cm in width, and 14.5 cm in depth, the piece serves as a practical and decorative table accessory. It suits placement on a sideboard top in an English Country House setting, functioning as a protective coaster for teapots or serving vessels during meals and gatherings.

An Art Nouveau teapot stand coaster is a protective tabletop accessory designed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to protect surfaces from heated vessels while incorporating nature-inspired artistic metalwork.

These items were manufactured by integrating a durable clear glass base with a fine sterling silver border or overlay, adorned with pierced motifs, hand-engraving, and organic whiplash curves.

Authentic period pieces feature official hallmark stamps denoting silver purity, makers marks, and period-specific naturalistic design motifs such as stylized leaves and flowing stems.

Display the coaster underneath a tea kettle on a sideboard, use it as an elevated display plate for small decorative objects, or position it flat on a coffee table as a metallic accent.

Wipe the glass insert with a mild glass cleaner or soft damp cloth, and clean the silver rim using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth to avoid removing delicate pierced detailing.
