This Georgian sterling silver spice sifting ladle is an English Country House serving utensil from the Georgian period. Made in London in 1804 by Thomas Wallis II, the piece is fashioned from silver with a polished silver finish and clear hallmarks. Visual details include a rounded pierced bowl, a long sweeping handle in the Old English pattern, and a smooth tapered stem. The object measures 12.5 cm high, 2.7 cm wide, and 2.7 cm deep in total dimensions. Ideal for modern collectors, the piece functions as a decorative display item on a sideboard top or as a traditional table-ware accessory in a dining room setting.

During the Georgian period, sifting ladles were designed to sprinkle powdered sugar, spices, or nutmeg evenly over food and beverages at the dining table.

These utensils were forged from solid sterling silver, featuring hand-pierced bowl perforations and stamped official British hallmarks to verify metal purity.

Authentic examples feature complete British hallmarks including the monarchs head, lion passant, date letter, and makers mark, alongside hand-pierced bowl holes rather than modern machine-stamped patterns.

Display the spoon inside a glass dining room cabinet, arrange it as part of a flatlay cutlery arrangement on a sideboard, or incorporate it alongside vintage barware.

Clean gently using a soft silver polishing cloth and warm water with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip the natural depth from hand-pierced detailing.
