This clear glass oil or vinegar bottle is made in the Art Deco style and dates from 1920. The hand-blown baluster body has a lobed form with a curved glass handle and a ground glass stopper featuring a pointed finial. A hallmarked sterling silver collar with a pouring spout wraps around the neck, bearing the maker's mark L&S for Levi and Salaman, the Birmingham assay mark, the lion passant, and the date letter for 1922. The glass is clear and the silver mount has a bright finish. The piece measures 15 cm high, 7 cm wide, and 7 cm deep. It functions as a cruet bottle for use on a dining table or sideboard top in a contemporary home.

An Art Deco silver-mounted cruet bottle is a dining vessel produced during the 1920s and 1930s, designed for serving liquids such as oil, vinegar, or salad dressings. These pieces combine functional glassware with hallmark-stamped sterling silver collars or spouts, reflecting the streamlined design movement of the era.

These bottles are primarily constructed from molded or clear blown glass fitted with a sterling silver collar or spout. The silver element is secured to the glass neck, often incorporating a ground glass stopper to ensure an airtight seal for liquid contents.

Authentic pieces carry official assay office hallmarks, including a makers mark, town mark, standard mark such as the lion passant for British sterling silver, and a specific date letter. The glass generally features period-appropriate contours alongside ground glass fitting surfaces on the stopper.

Position the piece on a dining table, kitchen island, or sideboard tray as a functional condiment holder or decorative accessory. It contrasts with modern timber, marble, or ceramic surfaces to add historical texture to modern dining setups.

Wash the glass body by hand using warm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh abrasives that could mark the glass. Clean the silver mount with a dedicated silver polishing cloth, ensuring polish does not enter the liquid chamber or saturate any internal fittings.
