An antique 1920 Art Deco brooch takes the form of a stylised flower spray decorated in silver and yellow. The piece comprises a palladium mount set with fancy yellow diamonds, white diamonds, marquise-cut stones, and a scrolling ribbon motif, accompanied by a gold safety chain and a hinged pin fastening. The setting measures 0.564 cm high, 4.2 cm wide, and 6.5 cm deep. Personal wear serves as the primary application for this accessory, which fastens securely to garments, lapels, scarves, or hats during formal events, special occasions, or everyday wardrobe enhancement. The brooch integrates into personal collections of period jewellery and functions as a statement piece on clothing in professional, social, or celebratory settings.

Floral spray brooches from the 1920s combine naturalistic botanical shapes with the geometric precision and stylized lines characteristic of the Art Deco period. They often depict tied sheaves of grain or bouquets using contrasting gemstone cuts and platinum-group metals.

Brooches from this era were primarily crafted in platinum, white gold, or palladium to allow for delicate, strong settings that highlighted the brilliance of diamonds. Accent stones often included colored diamonds, sapphires, rubies, or emeralds set alongside old European cut and marquise cut diamonds.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit hand-cut gemstones such as marquise or old European cuts, along with precise hand-pave or bezel settings. Period-accurate hallmarks, platinum or palladium settings, and safety mechanisms like trombone catches or fitted safety chains are also key indicators.

An antique diamond brooch can be fastened to the lapel of a tailored blazer, secured at the collar of a button-down shirt, or pinned to the waistband of a dress. It can also be worn as a hair accessory attached to an velvet ribbon or hairband.

Clean the piece using lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the stone settings. Store the brooch individually in a fabric-lined box to prevent the diamonds from scratching other jewellery items.
