This set of six sterling silver Tudor Revival seal top spoons dates from 1930 and follows a 17th century style. The items present teardrop bowls, tapered stems, and seal top finials in a silver finish, and each piece displays clear hallmarks. The set arrives in a fitted presentation box featuring a cream satin lined lid, a navy velvet base, a brass closing latch, and an exterior covered in a faux crocodile effect material. The interior lid bears the retailer stamp for R.L. Rennison, Jeweller, Sunderland. The box measures 18 cm by 14 cm, while each spoon measures 11 cm in length. Today, this collection suits display on a dining room sideboard top. It is suitable for serving tea or coffee during formal gatherings or everyday family meals in an English Country House interior. The spoons offer practical utility alongside historical character, making them a functional addition to a traditional tabletop setting.

Seal top spoons originated during the Tudor period in England, featuring a flat, disc-like finial or seal at the end of the stem which was historically used to stamp wax seals.

These flatware pieces are traditionally crafted from solid sterling silver, often featuring cast finials soldered onto drawn or hand-hammered stems and bowls.

Look for official makers marks and purity hallmarks on the back of the stem, along with characteristic fig-shaped or teardrop bowls and hand-finished construction details around the seal terminal.

An open presentation case can be positioned flat on a dining room sideboard top or displayed inside a glazed cabinet to introduce a subtle accent of heritage metalwork.

Polish gently with a soft cotton cloth and specialist non-abrasive silver cream, storing the flatware in tarnish-inhibiting lined presentation boxes away from moisture.
