Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Chinese export camphor wood trunk presents a rectangular profile bound in red leather with brass studding, gilded floral borders, and side carrying handles. The piece displays a burgundy leather cover featuring a central floral panel and a border of trailing foliage, complemented by brass-bound edges and original hardware including swan-neck carrying handles on the sides, a ring handle on the lid, and patinated bronze-appearance brassware. Measuring 41.9 cm high, 91.4 cm wide, and 45.7 cm deep, this substantial chest serves as a practical storage solution within a gentleman's library or living space. The structured design provides enclosed storage while functioning as a decorative accent table or blanket chest at the foot of a bed or beneath a window. The exterior showcases original polychrome decoration with painted floral motifs along the front, sides, and top surface, contrasting against the dark green framing elements. The timber structure accommodates everyday storage needs while maintaining the historical character of a travel chest produced for Western export markets during the mid-nineteenth century.

Produced during the 18th and 19th centuries primarily for Western merchants and sea captains, these trunks were constructed from aromatic camphor wood to protect textiles and documents from insects during long maritime voyages, featuring leather coverings and metal fittings.

These trunks feature solid camphor wood interiors bound in leather, secured with hand-hammered brass studs, reinforced metal corner pieces, and heavy cast iron or brass side carrying handles.

Authentic period pieces retain a distinct aromatic camphor fragrance internally, alongside hand-forged brass hardware, age-appropriate patination on the leather, and hand-painted or lacquered decorative borders.

A large trunk functions effectively as an accent coffee table in a living room, a storage chest at the foot of a bed, or a feature piece within a hallway or study.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent leather desiccation, apply a specialised leather wax periodically, and gently wipe the metalwork with a dry microfiber cloth.
