An Edwardian silver salt cellar frame in the Art Nouveau style holds an emerald green glass liner and includes a matching spoon with a small ball finial. The silver frame rests on three curved pad feet and displays openwork cut-out panels with embossed stylized flower motifs, while the glass liner features a smooth polished rim and deep green translucent hue. Measuring 3.5 cm high, 4.5 cm wide, and 4 cm deep, this diminutive piece has clear hallmarks stamped on the foot. Placed on a dining table centre or a side sideboard, this salt tub serves as a functional condiment holder for formal dining or an eye-catching decorative display object in a country house interior. The small silver spoon rests neatly across the top rim of the glass container for convenient daily use.

Art Nouveau silver tableware, popular from the 1890s to 1910, is defined by flowing, organic lines, whiplash curves, and naturalistic motifs derived from plants and flowers. Designs often feature asymmetric forms and integrated glass liners to protect the metal from corrosive substances.

Salt cellars were typically constructed from sterling silver or silver plate, frequently fitted with removable liners made from cobalt blue, green, or clear glass to prevent salt from corroding the metal frame over time.

Authentic pieces carry period makers marks and official assay hallmarks indicating metal purity, location, and date. Stylistically, genuine Art Nouveau pieces feature sinuous, stylized organic decoration typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Small antique salt cellars can be styled on dining tables or sideboards as accent decor, placed on dressing tables to hold delicate jewellery, or added to curio cabinets and display shelves.

Remove glass liners before cleaning to avoid trapping water between glass and metal. Clean silver using gentle, non-abrasive silver polishes with soft microfibre cloths, while glass inserts should be hand washed in warm soapy water and thoroughly dried.
