An Edwardian novelty pocket calendar takes the form of a miniature book with an embossed silver front cover and red faux leather on the spine and back. The silver mount displays repousse scrollwork, corner fan motifs, and a central latticework pattern, complemented by paper pages inside and yellowed page edges visible along the side. Measuring 4.8 cm high, 3.8 cm wide, and 0.5 cm deep, this diminutive desk accessory is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Paper pages detailing the year 1906 sit alongside listings for postal charges inside the front cover. Hallmarks mark the piece as originating from Birmingham in 1905, made by Arthur Johnson Smith. Placed on an office desk or within a gentleman's library display cabinet, the calendar brings period detail to a workspace or a collection of small-scale antiques while remaining in excellent condition with clear, readable marks.

Originating in the early 20th century, these miniature calendars featured decorative sterling silver covers encasing small printed almanacs or diaries, reflecting the Edwardian appreciation for intricate, portable silver accessories.

These items generally consist of a die-stamped or repousse sterling silver front cover mounted onto a leather, cloth, or card binding, housing paper calendar pages within.

Authentic pieces typically display hallmark stamps from recognised British assay offices, including date letters corresponding to the 1901-1910 period, alongside characteristic scrolled or Rococo motif repousse designs.

These small decorative items are ideally presented on an office desk, within a glass-fronted curio cabinet, or arranged alongside other vintage desktop accoutrements.

Gently clean the silver surface with a soft, dry cotton cloth or specialised silver polishing cloth, taking care to avoid getting liquid polish on the paper pages or binding.
