Gilt and Gesso has dated these Pair Moorish Octagonal Stools to the 1900s.

The stools feature 100% cotton kilim seat cushions, most likely former Kilim rugs or tribal saddle bags. These Levantine octagonal tables feature the traditional architectural motifs and signature Islamic arches and mashrabiya lattice work.

We suspect these are from Morocco but this style is equally found in Syria. Octagonal Moorish tables of this period were often from Morocco and might have been imported and retailed by Liberty.
Dimensions

Height 56cm tallest of the 2
Depth 41cm
Width 41cm
Presented in mostly very good condition with obvious evidence of a timeworn aged appearance which helps to enhance appearance and authenticity. There are signs of knocks and runs to the timbers but structurally excellent without and losses whilst the kilim seats are typically from the same early 20th century period and colour has faded as these will be vegetable dyed, we feel this adds character.

We will consider splitting the pair, please enquire.
