Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. This Edwardian drinks tray or waiter originates from around 1900, produced by the maker Elkington & Co. Made from silver plate, the object possesses a polished silver colour, a reflective surface, and incurved corners with a raised reeded rim. The square design shows cast feet underneath and a ribbon and reed border along the edge, displaying a clean finish after professional cleaning and polishing. The piece measures 1.3 cm high, 25.4 cm wide, and 25.4 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this item serves as a drinks tray or waiter positioned on a sideboard top, fitting naturally into a gentleman's library or a formal entertaining space. The silver-plated surface reflects light, while the raised border contains glasses or decanters securely during use. The sturdy square structure provides a stable platform for serving beverages to guests in a dining room or living area, bringing traditional craftsmanship to daily domestic settings.

FAQs

Produced primarily between 1901 and 1910, Edwardian silver plated serveware reflected a transition towards refined classical motifs, clean lines, and functional elegance following the heavier ornamentation of the Victorian era.

Electroplating involved immersing a base metal, typically nickel silver or electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), into an electrolyte solution and passing an electric current to coat it with a layer of pure silver.

Authentic Elkington pieces are stamped with makers marks including Elkington & Co., date letters, or the company logo, often accompanied by EPNS or electroplate symbols on the underside.

Position the tray on a sideboard or coffee table to group decanters, glassware, or small decorative accents, creating a structured display that adds textural reflection to a room.

Wash with mild soapy water, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth, and polish occasionally using a non-abrasive silver polish to prevent tarnish while avoiding wear to the plated layer.
