This silver-plated cocktail tray dates from the Art Deco period around 1925. The piece is circular with a shaped outline, featuring a broad polished well and a raised border. The rim displays a gentle scallop with flowing curves, punctuated at intervals by small stylised leaf-and-scroll motifs. The silver plate finish shows light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use. The tray measures 31 cm wide and 31 cm deep. In a home today, the tray serves as a timeless accessory for presenting tea or cocktails. Alternatively, it works well placed on a sideboard top to hold a curated vignette of small decorative items. The reflective surface and decorative leaf details provide a refined touch for entertaining guests or everyday display in a dining room or living space.

FAQs

Art Deco barware from the 1920s and 1930s typically displays geometric outlines, streamlined profiles, and restrained ornamentation, reflecting the modernist aesthetics of the era.

These items were manufactured using electroplating techniques to deposit a layer of pure silver onto a base metal, usually nickel silver or brass, before details were applied or finished by hand.

Authentic pieces carry manufacturer stamps or EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver) hallmarks, alongside period design characteristics such as stepped borders, scalloped edges, or stylised foliage motifs.

Position the tray on a sideboard, drinks trolley, or console table to cluster crystal glassware, decanters, or small decorative vessels together in a organized group.

Wash gently in warm soapy water, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth, and clean periodically with specialised, non-abrasive silver polish to control natural oxidisation.
