This clear and neutral glass bowl dates from the 1920 Art Deco period. The shallow circular coupe features frosted relief patterns of large bottle vases filled with flowers and foliage around the outside, surrounding a central medallion decorated with botanical motifs and a moulded VDA mark, alongside sepia staining. It measures 8.5 cm high and 24 cm wide. Positioned on a sideboard top, the bowl serves as a decorative display piece in a living room, dining room or hallway. The transparent and neutral tones complement various interior styles, while the intricate glasswork provides a textured focal point for modern homes.

Popularised in France during the 1920s, press-moulded glass coupes represented a fusion of industrial manufacturing and fine decorative art, characterised by relief patterns and frosted finishes.

Artisans utilised demi-crystal glass poured into metal moulds, combining polished clear surfaces with acid-etched frosted relief elements and hand-applied chemical stains.

Authentic period pieces feature crisp moulded detailing, hand-finished edges, signatures moulded in relief or wheel-cut into the glass, and precise weight proportions typical of early 20th-century production.

Position the coupe centrally on a dark wood sideboard, marble console table, or lit display shelf where directional lighting highlights the textured relief patterns.

Wash gently using lukewarm water and mild detergent with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding abrasive pads, chemical cleaners, or extreme temperature changes.
