Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A cased silver cruet set is a matched collection of table condiment vessels, typically including salt cellars, pepper casters, and a mustard pot with spoons, housed within a custom fitted presentation box. Historically, these sets were essential tableware for formal dining from the Georgian era through to the mid-twentieth century.

Cruet sets are commonly crafted from sterling silver or silver plate, frequently incorporating removable cobalt blue glass liners within open salt cellars to protect the metal from corrosion. The presentation cases are constructed from wood wrapped in faux leather or cloth and lined with silk and velvet.

Authentic pieces are identified by hallmarks stamped onto each metal component, including lids, bodies, and spoons. Look for makers marks, assay office symbols, silver purity marks such as the lion passant, and date letters.

The individual silver vessels can be displayed directly on a dining table or sideboard tray during meal service. Alternatively, the complete set can be presented inside its open fitted case on a sideboard top or within a glazed display cabinet.

Polish the silver components using a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to remove glass liners before washing. Store the clean, dried items inside their fitted velvet-lined case in a dry environment to reduce oxidisation and tarnishing.
