Stunning French Rosewood Bookcase

Description

An impressive and highly decorative French rosewood bookcase of exceptional elegance. The bookcase stands upon a shaped plinth base, the lower doors beautifully embellished with Sevres-style porcelain plaques, above which are two working drawers.

The upper section features a pair of glazed doors, opening to reveal four adjustable shelves, providing excellent practical storage for books and objets d’art.

The bookcase is particularly striking for its lavish decoration, incorporating finely cast ormolu mounts and mouldings, richly figured kingwood crossbanding and delicate boxwood line inlays throughout. The combination of beautifully figured rosewood, ornate ormolu and porcelain plaques gives this piece a wonderfully opulent French character.

The bookcase separates into three sections for ease of transport and installation and is presented in good condition. A magnificent statement piece, perfectly suited to an elegant library, drawing room or refined interior.
