This antique sterling silver sauce or gravy ladle originates from the 1920 period in the Danish Modern style. The piece possesses a bright silver colour with a polished finish and shows light surface marks from gentle cleaning. A deep contoured bowl connects to a slender, ribbed tapered handle that terminates in a decorative cast scroll and acorn motif. Hallmarks appear on the back of the bowl, showing slight rubbing while remaining readable. Measuring 17 cm high and 5 cm wide, this compact utensil suits placement on a sideboard top during dining occasions. The utilitarian design serves sauces or gravies at the table, offering a functional item for everyday meal service or formal dining settings.

Twentieth-century Danish silver design, popularized by workshops such as Georg Jensen, balances sculptural organic forms with functional minimalism, frequently incorporating hand-hammered surfaces and stylized botanical terminals.

Authentic period ladles are typically crafted from sterling silver containing 92.5 percent silver content, featuring solid cast handles, chased motifs, and seamless joins to deep contoured bowls.

Authentic pieces feature official makers marks including the Georg Jensen oval hallmark, silver purity stamps such as 925S or STERLING, and standard numerical design pattern codes.

Silver serving flatware can be displayed on a dining sideboard inside a glazed cabinet, laid on a stone serving board during formal dinners, or arranged alongside contemporary table settings to contrast materials.

Silver flatware should be hand-washed in warm water with mild detergent, dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth, and periodically treated with specialist silver polish to control natural oxidisation.
