Adam Revival design originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing direct inspiration from the 18th-century Neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam. The style incorporates symmetrical forms, slender proportioning, and Classical decorative motifs such as ribbon bows, urns, swags, and fan details.

These sconces were primarily cast in brass or bronze, often chased to define surface texture before being polished, lacquered, or silver-plated. The backplates were cast in sections and fitted with solid brass branches to support standard wax candles.
